Little Learners
Paving the Path to a Brighter Future
Little Learners - 3 & 4 Year Olds
Our Little Learners program is designed specifically for three- and four-year-olds, providing a warm, nurturing environment where young children can grow in confidence, independence, curiosity, and a love of learning. At Richmond Primary School, we believe young children learn best when they are known, supported, and given opportunities to explore the world around them. Our days balance purposeful play with meaningful academic experiences, hands-on learning, creativity, movement, and plenty of time outdoors.
Small Classes
With a 1:8 teacher-to-student ratio, our Little Learners classrooms allow teachers to truly know each child and provide individualized attention and support. Children are encouraged to learn at their own pace while developing the academic, social, emotional, and practical skills they need for their next stage of learning. Whether a child needs additional support, extra encouragement, or a new challenge, our teachers meet children where they are and help them grow from there.
Learning Through Play, Exploration & Discovery
Play is an important part of how young children learn. In Little Learners, play is purposeful and thoughtfully incorporated into the school day alongside teacher-led instruction and hands-on experiences. Children develop early literacy and math skills, build language and communication skills, practice problem-solving, and learn to work and play with others. They also have opportunities to create, move, explore, ask questions, and develop greater independence.
Our goal is not simply to prepare children for the next grade level, but to help them develop the confidence, curiosity, and foundational skills that will support them throughout their school years.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Even our youngest learners experience a rich variety of opportunities throughout the week, including Art, Library, Music, Movement, Nature and Chapel. Our low-technology approach gives children time to experience learning through real-world experiences, creativity, outdoor exploration, and meaningful interactions with their teachers and classmates.
A Day Designed for Young Learners
A typical day in Little Learners includes a thoughtful balance of structured learning and developmental play. Children have opportunities to learn in the classroom, spend time outdoors, participate in specials, build friendships, practice independence, and simply enjoy being young. We believe early childhood should be a time of wonder and discovery. Our teachers create a classroom environment where children feel safe to ask questions, try new things, make mistakes, and celebrate their accomplishments.
